Red, White, and Blue Woven Bracelet for You!

Have you ever tried weaving? My first time weaving was when my kiddos got a little loom and bands kit and you made hot pads and square things. Of course I was teaching them how and found myself sitting and weaving long after they left. I found it super relaxing just to sit and thread in a rhythmic fashion. Then I would pull the bands off and start again. As satisfying as that craft was it was kind of pointless I didn’t really make anything. Except I improved my hand eye coordination. HA! So when I decided to make this woven bracelet I was excited to not only sit and weave but weave something useful. And might I say I weaved something adorable for the 4th of July?!
I don’t know what it is about Americana that really makes me happy design wise. The red, white, and blue classic combo visually makes me heart eyes. And the flag design is tender to my heart. Honestly, I know right now there is so much going on in the USA. But this will always be my home and a land of opportunity. My family has only been in the US for about 4 generations and it’s been good to us. We have been blessed. I digress but I wanted to express why I loved designing an Independence Day inspired woven bracelet for you.
Inspiration: Little Loom Weaving
When you start talking about weaving do you think of big wall sized looms and loads of threads and days of tedious work? Me too! I have this idea of an old lady with handmade woolen yarn and different threads making a farm animal tapestry. But I think I watch too many movies perhaps. In reality weaving has had a recent comeback and you can find it all over Instagram. Especially the wall hangings. I am still not there in my weaving journey, but I feel like the woven bracelet is a good jumping off point. Weaving a bracelet is a simple process and you can make your own loom simply by taking an old picture frame and adding little nails at equal distances. TA DA loom! You can weave your basic woven dreams now!
My inspiration came from the book Little Loom Weaving by Andrea Gomes. You can follow her on Insta @and_gom. This book is full of serious weaving goals and step by step instructions to pull off the famous Instagram wall hanging craze. It gives you techniques to get you started and loads of inspiration with clear pictures and thoughtful insight.
Now sit back and enjoy watching how quick and simply you can make a woven bracelet of your own!
