Beefy Green Chile Braid #FoodieExtravaganza

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 Roma Tomato, chopped
  • ¾ cup chopped green chile
  • ½ cup chopped red bell pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp chile powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 package of crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  1. Preheat oven to 350*
  2. Cook the ground beef and onion until the beef is cooked through and the onion is tender.
  3. Add in the other chopped veggies and cook about 10 minutes, until the peppers are tender.
  4. Roll out your crescent roll dough.
  5. Spoon the mix down the middle of the dough, leaving about 2 inches on each end with no dough.
  6. Cover with ¾ cup of each cheese.
  7. Cut diagonal lines in the dough, switching directions in the middle of the dough.
  8. Starting at one end, cover the mixture with the end of the dough and then braid the cuts of dough, alternating sides.
  9. When you get to the middle, start at the other end.
  10. Bake for about 20 minutes, until the dough is golden in color.
  11. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top.
  12. Return the braid to the oven and melt the cheese.
  13. Remove from the oven and top with avocado.
  14. Slice to serve.
