Recently I was asked if I’d live to pre-view the new documentary Is Genesis History? and write a review of it for you. I’m pretty interested in this topic, so of course I said yes. This is my honest review of the documentary, which was provided to me to write this review.
Is Genesis History? is a film inspired by the director’s 1o year old daughter who began asking questions about history, science and the Bible. The film asks questions of scientists and scholars relating to the history of the Earth and the great Flood. Dr. Del Tackett takes us around the world to find the answers to the question, Is Genesis History?
At the time I had access to this documentary my dad and step-mom were visiting, so we all sat together and watched and then talked about it later. Imagine our surprise when this man below, Steve Austin, PhD. was one of the scientists that were interviewed. My dad and brother took a rafting trip through the Grand Canyon with him as their guide a few years ago. The rafting trip’s goal was the same as this documentary, to determine if Genesis is in fact history. My dad said he is a very intelligent guy.
You probably know that I am a creationist. I’ve shared my faith here in the past. Having said that, it is really great to hear scientists share their evidence to back up what I already believe. Faith is faith. You don’t necessarily see everything you believe. It’s a hard concept for some. My faith is pretty basic. This documentary made me see it scientifically and was very interesting to me.
Overall, I would say this is a very well developed documentary, explaining the history of the Earth, as it relates to Genesis, in terms and dialog that the average person will understand. It was not overly technical at all and we all enjoyed the film. Also, the location shots were beautiful. We live on an incredible planet.
Is Genesis History? will be in theater, as a Fathom Events film, on February 23rd, for one night only. You can visit their website to view the trailer, find a theater near you, as well as to download a free e-book to help you prepare for the film. I highly recommend the film and I also think it would be a great film to take your children to so they can hear the evidence for themselves. Seriously. Go see it.
