Life is an Adventure
My Life is an Adventure and that’s the way I like it. I’m a big believer in life is what you make it. I know that we all have challenges and circumstances that might make what we want to attain harder, but it’s still what you make it. We all have challenges in life, I know this, but how you handle your challenges is what make you, you and me, me.
A little of my life history for you. My dad was in the Air Force when I was growing up, so we moved, a lot. Before I was 18, I lived in one country besides the United States and seven states. I didn’t go to the same school two years in a row until I got into high school.
After I graduated from high school, I joined the Air Force and lived in a few places and then I met my husband while I was in college. That’s a whole other weird story though.
When we had our son, he was born with some pretty serious health issues and we lived in Idaho, with no doctors who could help him. We moved to Florida with the hope that there would be doctors there who could help him. Thankfully, there were and things are good now. (Another story for another time.)
We moved back to Idaho and about eight months after we got there, my husband was laid off and we had no money. Like none at all. He was reading the want ads and there was a job that talked about travel with the job, for your whole family. We decided, based on benefits, especially for our son, and the fact that we would have a paycheck coming in, that it would be a good decision for our family. Plus, I love to travel, since I’ve always done it, so I was all over that was a great perk.
We put almost all of our stuff in storage or sold it, packed up the kids and off we went on our adventure. Since we began our adventure, we have lived in 15 states, some more than once, and six countries. When I count it all up over my lifetime, I have been to 47 states, lived in 19 states, lived in seven countries and visited 22 countries. I’m pretty sure it’s what keeps me sane and maybe insane at the same time.
As we have traveled and lived our adventures, we have made some really great friends, seems some incredible places, eaten some strange food and really tried to enjoy our lives. We don’t have a huge bank account, live in fancy places or drive fancy cars. What we do have are really great memories and lots of experiences. It’s a trade off that we have made because we love the adventures in life.
