Dear Mom – Look away. Do not read any further. To everyone else, it’s no secret that I am not an awesome card maker. I’m still learning. I could watch videos and ask friends, but quite honestly, I don’t have the time to do that, so I just wing it when I need a card. Mother’s Day is coming up and I need a few cards. The thing is, I had surgery a week ago and I can’t drive yet. I decided that I have all of these great card making supplies that Stampin’ Up has given me, so I thought I would put them to good use. This is what I’m calling Blooming Mother’s Day Card Tutorial. It’s a super easy card, so I’m confident that you can make it too.
Be sure to read all the way to the end so you can enter this month’s fun Paper Pumpkin giveaway!
This month’s Paper Pumpkin box included an extra set of stamps called “Everything” in the box. I used that set as well as the set from the Lovely Little Wreath kit that I received and that I’m giving away this month. Here is a list of the other things I used. All are linked to their Stampin’ Up page. These are not affiliate links or sponsored links, but I did get them all for free from Stampin’ Up. (The FCC says I have to tell you that, every time.)
I took two pieces of coordinating paper and trimmed them with my handy paper cutter, which is not from Stampin’ Up, but they have one too. You can find it HERE. I love having a paper cutter because I can get a clean, straight cut. So much better than my scissor skills. I cut the second piece of paper slightly smaller than the first. Then I folded them in half and stuck them together with the mini glue dots, as shown below. Isn’t this paper so pretty?
Next, I took a piece of white cardstock and stamped the flowers, branches (from the Everything set) and the Happy Mother’s Day stamp (from this month’s Paper Pumpkin set) on them. I used the swish from the Everything set first, with the Pool Party stamp pad. When that dried, I stamped the Happy Mother’s Day on top. Doesn’t it look pretty?
After everything was dry, I cut out my flowers and branches with scissors and then used my paper cutter for the Happy Mother’s Day.
I used the Mini Glue Dots to stick the Mother’s Day words in the corner and the branches on the upper corner. Then I used the Stamping’ Dimentionals to add the flowers. I love that they look like they are coming right out of the paper.
This is the finished outside of the card. I added a plain white piece of cardstock to the inside so I can write on it. I just used the Mini Glue Dots. And that is my card.
I wanted to show you these little tags I made with things from the Paper Pumpkin kit. I really love the black paper with the white ink. I think it looks so neat. I love getting my Paper Pumpkin kit in the mail each month. I’m going got miss it when I live in Martinique. If you want to receive your own Paper Pumpkin each month, you can sign up HERE.
This is the completed kit for this month. If you click on THIS LINK you can see other things you can make with the kit. I made this because I thought it would be a good decoration for my youngest daughter’s apartment. She has some pretty bare walls and doors. I hope she likes it.
