It’s been almost a year since we moved back into our house after three years of living elsewhere. I’ve been working on it a lot because we don’t have little kids anymore and our needs have changed. When we decided to move back in, one of the things I was really excited to do was make one of the big upstairs bedrooms a craft room. Who doesn’t want one of those? I finally have it the way I want it, so I thought I would give you a little Craft Room Tour. I always love reading other people’s posts about their craft rooms, so I thought I would join the fun.
When we moved into the house, we used this room as a storage room for our boxes so I could unload them a little at a time, as I got rooms painted. It got a little overwhelming at times and I actually had a little melt down one night. My sweet husband put me back together though and helped me get one room in order so I had a place to sit in peace and not look at boxes. He really is a keeper. This room had glow in the dark paint on the walls because this was the room my grandsons lived in when they lived here. Fun paint, right? I had to use some heavy duty primer to cover it though. That stuff stinks.
Anywhere you see the word in blue, I linked to the post on my blog that shows how I made that item. On the door of my craft room is this fun sign I made. I really love the colors, plus it announces the fun to be had in the room.
I repurposed a lot of things in the room. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money to set it up. I painted the walls the same grey as the most of the house and then I have one accent wall a light yellow color. I used DecorArt chalk paint in Escape as the blue on the furniture. I really love this table I made. It is big enough to really spread out and I can work here with another person if I want. I also made the fabric crate shelves and my hubby hung them up for me. I told you he is a keeper. My friend Karlenn got me the picture on the wall. It says, “Babe of the USA” on it. She’s so funny. Love her!
When I was thinking of a theme of sorts for this room, I decided to stick with the same theme I’m working on in my bedroom and bathroom and go with a beachy theme. I might as well stick with what I love, right? So, there are little touches of the beach here, with the shells and sand and accent colors. I have little shelves on two sides of the room and one of them has buttons, shells and my fun picture with my friend Brenna from SNAP last year.
Under this shelves is my Vision Board and my Stampin’ Up cabinet. I’m actually thinking I am going to paint this to match the big table, but I haven’t done it yet. It’s a new thought. There is also that cute little picture that says, “I need chocolate NOW!” It’s true a lot of days.
My bookshelf has some fabric quarters and washi tape on top, my photography props, lots of paper and craft and blogging magazines and books.
The opposite wall has another skinny shelf with lots of paints and sprays. This is why I usually have the colors I need. There are also the curtains I made with Riley Blake Design fabric. I love these curtains. The colors are so perfect for the room. There are also my threads on the wall.
This is the inside of the closet. The baskets don’t match, but as I said, I was going for repurposing what we had and not buying a lot of things. The fact that we had all of these baskets tells you that I buy a lot of baskets.
In this picture you can see my accent wall color. I really love it. My sewing desk is one that I got from my step-mom a lot of years ago. It had about 8 coats of different color paint on it when I got it. She had picked it up at a garage sale. I totally stripped and sanded it and then stained it, changed out the knobs and had a piece of glass cut for the top. The side goes up to extend it if I want. I love it so much. On top is my Baby Lock sewing machine I got at SNAP the first year I went. Such a great machine. On the wall is a picture my daughter made me. The colors are go great.
I had this appliance cart from when we lived in the apartment for two years. I repurposed it for my Silhouette and Sizzix machines and accessories. There is also a picture that my same daughter made. She is pretty artistic.
The final thing is this room is something I just got and that was this great area rug I got from Wayfair. It is nice and squishy and warms up the room a lot. It will be a great place for my grandkids to sit when we are in the room.
That is my craft room. I love working in here and I love the colors in the room. There is a lot of creative energy here. Can you tell it’s my happy place? Do you have a craft room? Do you have any great organization ideas?
