Are you a reader? I am, but I didn’t used to be. I really struggled with reading growing up. I have dyslexia and it gives me fits if I don’t concentrate really hard on what I’m doing. Working in the payroll department for ten years was a real struggle sometimes. When I was a senior in high school, I took a class called Reading Improvement from a wonderful teacher named Teddy Kerney. She opened my eyes to the wonderful world of reading and I am forever grateful to her. I don’t know if she is still alive, but wherever she is, I hope she knows how much she changed a lot of kid’s views on reading. All these years later, I am still a slow reader, because I turn stuff around often and have to re-read something, but I do love a good book. In December I received an email from Laura Walker asking me if I wanted to participate in The Matchup Review in January. I read the excerpt and was onboard.
Here is an excerpt from The Matchup:
Laura L. Walker’s first novel, Pierced by Love, was set in beautiful northern Arizona where she earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Being native Arizonans, Laura and her husband, Rob, think it’s a great place to raise their six children. She and her family enjoy camping, swimming, reading, and learning history together. The Matchup is Laura’s second novel.
