I was given a copy of the book Cut Out and Keep: Around the USA in 50 Craft Projects to review. All opinions are 100% my own
When I heard about this book, Cut Out and Keep: Around the USA in 50 Craft Projects, I was super excited by the opportunity to review it. It combines two of my very favorite things, travel and crafts. How cool is that? Seriously, I should have written this book. I have been to 47 states, I could have done it.
Cut Out and Keep is written by a couple from Scotland, Cat Morley & Tom Waddington. They set out on an 8 month long exploration of the United States and were able to visit and explore every single state! They lived out of suitcases and motels and really lived it up. This sounds like such a great time to me. (I know there are people who think I’m nuts. That’s okay. It takes all kinds to make the world go round.)
Each state has an individual entry, where a little bit of history and some travel information from that state is shared. It’s really interesting and I can see that when I go to different states, I will be referring to this book to see if there is something I might like to explore.
Where this book differs from other travel books is that it also talks about a craft from each state and gives instructions on how to make the craft. Pretty awesome, right?! There are some fun crafts too. Idaho is Gemstone Soap and Alaska is North Pole Bauble, which is a fun Christmas ornament.
My plan was to make a craft to show you out of the book, but this whole moving thing has really taken up a lot of my time. Crazy how that is, right? I will be doing it when I am all settled though.
Cut Out and Keep: Around the USA in 50 Craft Projects is a really fun book and in my opinion this would make a fun gift for any crafter or traveler. Mother’s Day is coming up quick. Here is an idea for you!! You could buy a copy of the book, the supplies for one of the craft projects and of course a little chocolate and put together a fun gift basket.
