Today I’m bringing you another fun project from Wood Creations of Idaho Falls. I seriously love, love, love their shop. When I need a gift, they are one of the first places I think of going. Most people love handmade decor items, so it’s perfect! Then I just add my touch and we have a nice homemade gift, that’s from the heart. For my mom’s birthday, I gave her a finished set for each holiday throughout the year for her mantel. She seemed to really love it.
For this month’s project, I’m bringing you a Christmas Stocking that you can hang on your front door or really, anywhere you want. I love having stuff on my door, so this is perfect. Lucky you because Wood Creations of Idaho Falls is also giving one lucky reader a set of their own. You can enter with the Rafflecopter at the end of this post.
When I unwrapped my set, this is what was inside, minus the wire. I got that separately, also at Wood Creations. I also got my paper in their shop. They have a great variety, plus paints and embellishments.
After the paint dried, I attached the papers I wanted to the pieces with Mod Podge. Be sure to use a liberal amount and get all of the air bubbles out. Both are so important. I put on the base coat to attached the paper and when that was dry I put 2 coats over the top, allowing them to dry between coats. Also, because I wanted this for a door, I used the outdoor Mod Podge, which is a bit thicker than the regular.
When everything was dry, I assembled the pieces. I wanted to be sure to line up the holes of the base piece and the cuff, so I used a toothpick to hold them in place. I used Liquid Nails to attach the pieces. I love that stuff. It really holds well.
I really love the colors I used together. They compliment each other very well.
I took the wire and wrapped it around the stocking bottom and attached a bell. Then I made a circle hook for the top, so it can be hung. I also attached a piece of paper that says “ho ho ho” for some extra fun. Wood Creations carries those too. Finally, I tied some ribbon around the middle for an extra pop of color.
