If you have ever been outside of the country, you know how frustrating it can be to try to get on a website that originates in the United States and requires that you be in the United States to use said website. It has happened to me on numerous occasions and it’s a pain, to say the least.
This is how it goes: You’re visiting a country and you have a little bit of time to relax. You decide you would like to watch a little television. When you turn on the television, you discover nothing is in English or the shows on are not something you are interested in. You decide you will turn on your computer and watch a little Netflix instead, only to discover that you can’t because your country of origin for your Netflix account is not the country where you are currently located.
If you are only visiting for a short amount of time, it isn’t a big deal. However, if you will be in that country for any length of time at all, if can be inconvenient.Trust me, I know. We have lived in places where we couldn’t get the websites we are used to having, simply because we were outside of the U.S. It happens to residents of other countries when they go places as well.It isn’t just Netflix either. Sites like Hulu, Pandora and Spotify are affected as well.
Enter TunnelBear. TunnelBear will be your connection to all of your familiar websites when you travel outside of the country. TunnelBear is an app that makes it really easy to browse the internet like you’re in another country. It allows you to unblock websites like Netflix and Pandora, so when you have a little down time, you won’t be frustrated and your time won’t be unbearable!
Another benefit to using TunnelBear is that if you happen to write a blog, like I do, when you are out of your country of origin, your IP address for anything you write is in the country where you are located, not your country of origin. If you are on a VPN, like TunnelBear, you can select your country and the IP address will be your chosen county. This is very handy if you are trying to write a sponsored post and you have to be in a specific country to write it.
Installing TunnelBear is a snap. It took me about 2 minutes. You can go to their DOWNLOAD PAGE and it will walk you through how to do it. They have several different versions and packages available, including a free package.
Once it is downloaded, you can just go to the app on your computer and click on it. Then tap the dial, shown below, to turn it on. It takes about 10 seconds for mine to connect.
You can then select the country you want to have your IP address to come from on the app box. TunnelBear will work from most places, so it’s handy no matter where you are. The exception being some places of China. Having lived there, I can say that they are pretty picky about what they allow in their country.
Before your next trip, set yourself up a TunnelBear account and familiarize yourself with it. Then you will be a pro by the time you go on that trip and you will be sailing through the internet with no problems at all. You will love your trip so BEARY much more.
You can do some more investigating on your own on the TUNNELBEAR WEBSITEand I encourage you to do so. It will really make your next trip easier, as far as your technology goes.
TunnelBear can be downloaded on a PC, Mac, IPad, IPhone or Andriod. Before our next trip, we will have this on all of our devices. Try it out yourself.
