Wood Creations of Idaho Falls provide this project free of charge. All opinions are solely mine.
Have you ever seen something and knew you wanted it? You just couldn’t get it out of your mind, no matter what you did? I had one of those experiences recently. I went into Wood Creations of Idaho Falls and saw a really cute Mother’s Day plaque, but at that time they only had the completed example, not one to make myself. I was sad, but I picked something else. (This was for the last Wood Creations giveaway we did.) I went back a few days later and still they didn’t have it. Well, I finally got it the other day and I wanted to share what I did with you.
These are the supplies I used, except I changed my mind and used red ribbon. I also used paint, Mod Podge and Liquid Nails to put it all together. I love those little shiny embellishments. I got them and the papers at Wood Creations as well.
First I painted all of the pieces and then I used the Mod Podge to glue the papers on the pieces I wanted the paper on. Make sure that you use a lot of Mod Podge, but not so much that it makes bubbles. Press the paper down really well so there are no bubbles too. Allow it to dry completely. After it is dry, add two more layers of Mod Podge on the top. Add a layer on the pieces without paper too, for the shine and protection.
Next you put it all together. I wrapped the ribbon all the way around the middle part of the dress and the ribbon on the neck has it’s ends under the piece of off white wood that is at the top of the dress. I used liquid nails to put this all together. I really love that stuff. Allow it to dry completely before you move it. When it is dry, add the embellishments. Then you add the vinyl words.
This is the finished product. Isn’t it as cute as can be? I just love it and it’s so true. If you want to make one, it would make a great Mother’s Day gift for someone. Wood Creations of Idaho Falls, and I’m sure their Utah location too, has a nice selection of Mother’s Day projects for you. They also have graduation, Father’s Day and summer projects. Head over and pick out something for you. You can also shop their online store. Wood Creations link.
