In February, we had a big family dinner for my grandson’s birthday. I can’t believe he is six already! It seems like he was just born the other day. It’s crazy how fast they grow. We had the dinner at my in-laws, so my father-in-law wouldn’t have to walk up our ten thousand stairs, but since it was my idea, I brought the main dish. I had to figure out something I could make ahead of time and that would travel easily.
I decided on lasagna and since I was going out of town two days later, I decided to make an extra little one that my husband and daughter could eat while I was gone. I wonder if they did eat it. The lasagna turned out really good and was especially great with Samantha’s Homemade Rolls. If you haven’t tried her rolls, you really should. Poor girl gets stuck making them every time we have a family gathering.
Now I want to tell you about this fun ebook I read called How to Become a Better Home Cook by Lindsay Moe of The Live In Kitchen. I was so excited to get to read and review it, I wanted to bring it to you.
A little about the book. It is truly a book for the beginner cook and gives you all sorts of ideas and tips to make cooking easier. She tells you the basics you need for your kitchen and what you need for a well stocked pantry. Lindsay teaches you some basic skills for the kitchen, like the proper way to cut different things without slicing off your fingers and what type of heat to use. She even has a few recipes thrown in for you to try.
This is the book I wish I would have had when I started cooking. It is a pretty fast read and not so technical that it confuses you when you read it. She throws in a little humor in the right place and does a fine job explaining things.
It is currently in ebook form, but I’m hoping it will come out in regular book form. This would make a great gift for a new cook or even a great wedding gift, with some of her basic kitchen need suggestions added. If you are a beginning cook, this book is for you. I have been cooking for a very long time and I learned some things too.
For a limited time, you can purchase How to Become a Better Home Cook for the low cost of $5! Can you believe that?! Just enter the code ‘PROMO5’, until April 15, 2014 for the discounted rate.
