Disclosure: I was provided a copy of “You Have Lipstick On Your Teeth” to review, free of charge. All opinions are completely mine.
A couple of weeks ago my friend Stephanie Giese asked our blog group for volunteers to read her new book and review it. Well, as you might know, I love to read, so I volunteered and I’m so glad I did!
“You Have Lipstick on Your Teeth” is a collection of short, humorous essays written by 39 different women. Most of the essays are somehow embarrassing in nature to the writer and they really are funny. (A note to the men reading this, this book is not for you.) This is a book by women, about women, for women. The essays cover, “bodily changes, relationships, careers, motherhood, aging, illness, and more.”
I enjoyed the book very much and laughed a lot, sometimes quite hard. It was fun to pick it up at the end of the day and have a good giggle before I went to bed for the night. There was some off color language in different essays, although not Stephanie’s, and some of the topics of the essays made me a little uncomfortable, but all of the topics were handled with lots of humor.
What is really fantastic about this book is that if you really love it and enjoy the essays, it tells you where else you can find the author’s writing. Most of them have blogs that they write that are quite funny as well. So, when you finish the book, you can find out more funny things about your favorites.
This would be a great vacation read or just when you need a quick pick me up. You can also just keep it with you and read a quick essay when you’re waiting to pick up a child somewhere or waiting in line at the bank. “You Have Lipstick on Your Teeth” comes in paperback and Kindle edition and can be purchased on Amazon.. Go get it!
